In The Prisoner of Venice, Jaspa and his friends made their way to Italy, on the trail of their kidnapped pal Ernest (the Ratses they first met in The Pride of London), who in turn found himself held captive in a dark and ancient attic. But after arriving in Venice, Jaspa and the others discovered Ernest wasn’t the only Ses to have gone missing recently.
And now, Jaspa’s adventures in the mysterious city of Venice continue...
Nicknamed the Ses Collector by Venetian Ses, a menacing presence has been terrorising the city for almost a year. Since its appearance, a steady stream of Ses have disappeared, two or more at a time, turning the normally welcoming inhabitants of Venice suspicious and fearful.
Having teamed up with a local Foxses called Albertee, whose family are among the Vanished (Albertee’s name for the missing Ses), Jaspa and his friends push on with their quest to find and rescue the lost Ses. Their search takes them to every corner of the canal-crossed city, and deep into the lagoon that surrounds it... to Poveglia, an island many claim is the most haunted on Earth.
Can Jaspa and his friends succeed in freeing Venice from the grip of the Ses Collector’s reign of dread? Or will this sinister shadow continue to darken Italy’s most magnificent city?
